About the role
Agoo Kiosk and Agoo Workspace run on Android phones and tablets across Ghana, held to the same standard as our iOS apps, and Amee and Atumpan will follow. Android also brings work of its own: dedicated front-desk devices, card readers and printers, and a light mode for modest phones on costly data. You'll build all of it to feel at home on Android, with motion that has a purpose.
What you'll do
- Build features across our Android apps in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Use Material 3 Expressive and Android's own idioms, with our brand on top
- Design motion with a purpose: shared elements, springs, keyframes and haptics
- Make every screen right on phones and tablets, in light and dark, with TalkBack, font scaling and reduced motion honoured
- Build dedicated-device kiosk mode for front desks, and work with NFC card readers and printers
- Build flows that keep working offline and catch up when the network returns
- Keep our apps fast and light on modest phones and slow networks
- Prepare Google Play releases and listings with the team
- Work with our cryptography and backend engineers on private messaging for Atumpan
What you'll bring
- At least five years building Android apps, with recent, substantial Jetpack Compose work in production
- Apps you can show us, with motion and detail you're proud of
- Deep knowledge of Kotlin coroutines, the Android lifecycle and performance profiling
- Accessibility as a habit: TalkBack, font scaling and reduced motion
- Experience with offline-first data and syncing
- Experience shipping through Google Play, including app signing and staged releases
- If you're a Ghanaian graduate: National Service completed, or exempt
Nice to have
- Dedicated-device or kiosk deployments
- NFC, Bluetooth or USB peripherals
- Secure messaging or applied cryptography on Android
- Close work with an iOS team on shared behaviour
How you'll work
- Hybrid. You'll be based at our office at 10A Mega Street, Adentan, Accra, mostly with one day a week from home, agreed for the role.
- Hours. Standard office hours.
- This is a permanent, full-time role.
- Reporting. You'll report to the Head of Engineering.
- Openings. There are two openings: one now, for Agoo Kiosk and Agoo Workspace, and one before Amee opens, for Amee and Atumpan.
