About the role
Agoo Reviews already depends on careful moderation, and Amee and Atumpan will add posts, messages, live rooms and younger members, who are protected by default. As our Head of Trust and Safety you'll build the team that keeps all of it safe, with AI doing the first pass and people making the final calls. This is a true head role: you'll write the policies, set the response times and hire the people who meet them.
What you'll do
- Hire and lead the team: child safety, moderation, appeals and verification
- Write our community standards and enforcement policy, and keep them current
- Set response times for reports, from the most urgent to appeals, and make sure we meet them
- Design how AI triage and human review work together, with people making the final enforcement decisions
- Own the moderators' wellbeing programme with our HR Manager
- Publish a regular transparency report
- Handle law-enforcement requests with our Data Protection Officer
- Work with product and engineering so safety is designed in from the start
- Build relationships with regulators, child-protection bodies and safety organisations in Ghana and beyond
What you'll bring
- At least seven years in trust and safety, content moderation or online safety policy, including leading a team
- Content policy you've written, enforced and revised
- Experience running moderation with automated triage and clear human decisions
- A real commitment to moderators' wellbeing, with experience putting it into practice
- Knowledge of Ghana's laws on cybersecurity, data protection and children's safety online
- A good understanding of Ghanaian English and Pidgin, and of local context online
- Calm, fair judgement under pressure
- If you're a Ghanaian graduate: National Service completed, or exempt
Nice to have
- Child safety experience
- Transparency reporting
- Experience responding to law-enforcement requests
- Membership of professional trust and safety networks
How you'll work
- Hybrid. You'll be based at our office at 10A Mega Street, Adentan, Accra, mostly with one day a week from home, agreed for the role.
- Harmful material is reviewed only in the office, and you'll be reachable for the most urgent escalations.
- Hours. Standard office hours.
- This is a permanent, full-time role.
- Reporting. You'll report to the founder.
- Police clearance. This role is safety-sensitive, so an offer depends on a police clearance certificate. We ask for it only at the offer stage, and only with your consent.
Looking after you. This work involves exposure to harmful material, and we take that seriously. We commit to limits on how much harmful material anyone reviews in a shift, to rotating people between harder and lighter work, and to access to confidential professional support for everyone on the team. National Service personnel and interns never see graphic or child-safety material.
